This important time management tool was developed by Dwight D. Eisenhower and later popularized by Steven R. Covey.
We have physically-challenged people, financially-challenged people, mentally-challenged people, emotionally-challenged people, and lots of challenged people according to their different groupings, depending on the relevant issues. But I have not heard about time-challenged people. Time is one of the resources that are available to all individuals equally. Bill Gates, Elon Musk, Cosmas Maduka, Tony Elumelu, you, and I, have equal amount of time available to us all. We all have access to the same 60 seconds that make 1 minute, the same 60 minutes that make 1 hour, the same 24 hours that make 1 day, the same 7 days that make 1 week, the same 4 weeks that make 1 month, the same 12 months that make 1 year, containing 52 weeks. Our attitude to time accounts for the differences in our results. By our attitude I mean the way we treat time and apply time to meet our needs. Some people are of the opinion that time cannot be eenough but this is a lie. There is enough time to attend to all we care about. The problem is that we do not schedule our time properly. Time appears to be among the most important resources for successful living.
According to Dwight D. Eisenhower, our individual time resource falls within 4 zones in the Time Management Matrix. These 4 zones are represented by 4 quadrants and are determined by the intersections or interactions of our activities. The time management matrix is defined by 4 activity types which consequently determine our results. The 4 activity types are:
1. Urgent
2. Not Urgent
3. Important
4. Not Important.
